Topological, smooth and holomorphic dynamics, ergodic theory, fractals

01.03.2023 - 30.06.2023 | Warsaw & Będlewo

Dynamical Systems is one of leading areas of modern mathematics. It is often assumed that it was started at the end of XIX century by Henri Poincare with his book Les méthodes nouvelles de la mécanique céleste. In XX century it developed in several directions and the Semester concentrates on some of them. DS is about various deterministic and random processes and qualitative limit behaviour of typical trajectories.

The semester is a continuation of the Simons Semester „Dynamical Systems” in Banach Center in Fall 2015. The present semester includes several schools, workshops and conferences, as well as minicourses run by world leaders, and joint research and mentoring, directed to young participants.

The semester is organized in cooperation with the mini-semester Modern holomorphic dynamics and related fields held at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw (MIMUW) within the Thematic Research Programme action, a part of the Excellence Initiative – Research University Programme (IDUB) at the University of Warsaw and the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
